Intercultural Solutions for Challenging Times

Conference Program

The conference theme, Intercultural Solutions for Challenging Times, has sparked an incredible range of sessions – with applications from the boardroom to the classroom to the virtual world, across oceans and across the street, interacting with others (in person and online) and developing the self.

The program is filled with sessions that will inspire, energize, and motivate participants in their work and lives as interculturalists and citizens of the global society. Sessions will take participants on transnational ships, into the political arena, and along the acculturation journeys and adventures of sojourners. Culture-specific sessions span the globe – north to south and east to west, from Latin America to the Arab world, and to lessons learned in China and India. Intercultural applications in service learning, through personal leadership, using emotional intelligence, and across generations, will provide participants with new ideas in these challenging times.

Come and learn more about intercultural tools involving icebergs and polar bears, activities with art postcards, new and exciting ways to use films and stories, and how to utilize blogs in intercultural programming.

And of course, classic intercultural topics addressed by creative presenters and applied to current conditions are sure to leave participants enthusiastic about intercultural work. Engage in sessions on all aspects of the work: intercultural competence building in multiple contexts, international education and exchanges, training tools and effectiveness, enhancing teamwork, working virtually, assisting refugees and immigrants, global leadership, the cultural aspects of relationship-building, cultural transitions, bridging domestic and global diversity, and exploring power, class, and privilege with intercultural lenses.

Come prepared to participate in stimulating sessions and energizing exchanges as we share and grow in our diverse roles as interculturalists. Check the SIETAR USA website www.sietarusa.org for program schedules and details.

We look forward to seeing you in April!
